Costs

  • Initial Intake:  $185 per hour

  • Psychotherapy:  $150 for 45-minute session

  • Psychological Assessment:  Please contact Dr. Novit to discuss rates.

  • Professional Consultation:  Please contact Dr. Novit to discuss costs.

  • Sliding Scale Available:  A limited number of reduced fee slots are reserved for patients who want services but cannot afford to pay the full amount. 

What is the cost for a psychological assessment?

Psychological assessment is labor intensive and requires a high level of expertise. All individuals are unique, so each assessment is tailored to fit the needs of the individual. The cost varies, depending on the extensiveness of the assessment (the number of hours required to complete the full evaluation process from the test administration to the final feedback appointment). Charges include interviews, test administration, scoring, interpretation, writing a detailed report, and a follow-up appointment for feedback and recommendations. In some cases, it will be necessary to review records/previous testing, consult your healthcare providers, teachers, and/or therapists, and conduct school observations.

Insurance

Dr. Novit is an out-of-network provider which means she does not accept insurance. You are responsible for full payment of fees at the time services are rendered. 

Some insurance policies provide full or partial reimbursement for services rendered by out-of-network providers, but there may be limitations or restrictions within your policy and many require prior authorization and/or a referral from your primary care physician. If you choose to pursue out-of-network coverage with your insurance carrier, it is your responsibility to submit claims for potential reimbursement. Dr. Novit will provide you with receipts containing information that most insurance companies require. You can then submit those receipts with your claim forms to your insurance carrier for potential reimbursement. If your insurance carrier requires additional forms, Dr. Novit will complete them in accordance with their instructions.

Please speak directly to your insurance carrier to determine if you have out-of-network coverage for mental health services. Please check your coverage carefully. Some of the questions you can ask are as follows: 

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health insurance benefits?
  • Do I need a referral or pre-authorization from my primary care physician?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?

Payment

Cash, Check, MasterCard, or Visa - Payment is expected at the time of service

Dr. Novit does not accept insurance but can supply you with the information you need to submit a receipt to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Scheduling

There are a couple of ways to schedule an appointment. You can either call 843-410-8448 or send Dr. Novit an email.  

Cancellation / No-Show Policy

Appointments are contracted time and that time is reserved exclusively for you.

Psychotherapy: The full rate is charged if you do not show up for your scheduled appointment or you cancel less than 24-hours in advance (except in cases of emergencies).

Psychological Assessment: You will be charged $300 if you do not show up for your scheduled appointment or you cancel less than 1-week in advance (except in cases of emergencies).

Insurance companies do not provide reimbursement for missed or cancelled appointments.
